Main Ingredient Flour
Other Ingredient Chocolate Chips
Number of People 12
List of Ingredients 2/3 cup brown sugar, packed

2/3 cup white sugar

1/2 cup unsalted butter or margarine

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 tsp salt

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 tsp almond extract

1 tsp vinegar, white or cider

1 tsp baking soda

1 large egg

2 cups flour

2 cups chocolate chips
Description Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheets with parchment, or grease, or spray with cooking spray.

1.) In large bowl, combine sugars, butter, shortening, salt, vanilla, almond extract, vinegar and baking soda. Beat until smooth and creamy.

2.) Beat in egg; beat until smooth. Scrape down sides of bowl and beat again.

3.) Mix in flour. Then stir in chips.

4.) Use a spoon to scoop 1 1/4" balls of dough onto prepared cookie sheets. Leave 2 inches on all sides of cookies, as they will spread quite a bit.

5.) Bake cookies for 11-12 minutes until edges are chestnut brown and tops are light golden brown, almost blonde. (I made smaller cookies and they were done at 9 minutes -- watch carefully; they burn VERY QUICKLY). Remove from oven and allow to set on sheets until middles are set and they can be transferred to a baking rack without falling apart. Repeat with remaining dough.
