List of Ingredients 1 lb. round steak
2 T. flour (for skillet and oven methods)
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
4 oz. fresh sausage, sliced
1 T. oil
1 14 oz. can Italian tomatoes
1 small onion, sliced
1 tsp. dried thyme
2 c. cooked noodles or rice
2 T. quick tapioca (for crockery method)
Description Trim fat and cut meat in serving size pieces. Combine flour, salt and pepper. With mallet, pound flour mixture into both sides of meat. Brown meat and sausage in oil and drain fat. Add undrained tomatoes, onion and thyme. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and cover and simmer on low for 1-1/4 hours or til meat is tender. Serve over noodles or rice.

Oven Method: Prepare and brown meat as above. Put meat in 2 qt. baking dish. In skillet used to brown meat, bring to a boil the tomatoes, onion and thyme, scraping up browned bits. Pour over meat, cover and bake at 350 degrees for 1 to 1 1/2 hours or til tender. Serve over noodles or rice.

Crockery Method:
Trim meat as above, but omit flouring and pounding. Brown meat and sausage in oil. Place onion in crockery cooker and sprinkle with thyme, 2 T. quick-cooking tapioca, salt and pepper. Pour in undrained tomatoes; add meat. Cover and cook on low about 10 hours. Serve over noodles or rice.
