Braised Sirloin Tips over Rice

2 T. vegetable oil
2 lbs. beef sirloin steak, cut in 1\\" cubes
10 1/2 oz. beef consomme
1/3 cup cranberry juice cocktail
2 T. soy sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 tsp. onion powder
2 T. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
4 cups cooked rice or noodles
Description
Heat oil in large skillet, brown meat on all sides. Stir in consomme, juice, soy sauce, garlic, and onion powder. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour or until meat is tender.
Blend cornstarch and water; stir in gradually. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Serve over rice or noodles.

Notes
Instead of simmering for one hour, I put in crockpot and cooked on low for several hours.
