Name Barbecue Beans

List of Ingredients 1 lb dried Great Northern Beans, soaked (or large jar of Randall's Great Northern Beans; see Notes below)

3 slices bacon

1 1/2 c chopped onion

1 c chopped red pepper

1 c chopped green pepper

4 cloves garlic

1 T vegetable oil

3/4 c BBQ sauce

1/2 c dark brown sugar, packed

1/3 c beer

3 T maple syrup

3 T stone-ground mustard

1 tsp salt
Description 1. Cook beans. I did it in my crock pot -- 5 hours with just enough water to cover beans (stirring occasionally, especially toward end).



2. Cook bacon slices until crisp. Remove from pan, cool and crumble. Add onion, peppers, and garlic to bacon drippings; saute 2 minutes.



3. Add beans, bacon, and remaining ingredients to pan with onion mixture. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer 12 minutes or until slightly thickened.

Notes Here's the quick way to do it. Buy the large jar of Randall's Great Northern Beans. Skip cooking the beans, and just add the jarred beans in Step 3.
